What To Give A Newborn Baby For Constipation
Remedies for your baby’s constipation
- Switch up the milk. If your baby is breastfed, you can try adjusting your diet.
- Use solid foods. Some solid foods can cause constipation, but others can also improve it.
- Use pureed foods.
- Up the fluids.
- Encourage exercise.
- Massage.
What Foods Help Baby With Constipation?
If your baby is old enough to eat a variety of solid foods, cut down on constipating foods like rice, bananas, and cooked carrots. Try giving her a few tablespoons of pureed prunes, apricots, or pears to help loosen her bowel movements.
What Can You Give A 4 Month Old For Constipation?
Add a little dark fruit juice, like prune or pear, to your baby’s bottle. Or just give her some extra water if she’s older than 4 months — no more than 1-2 ounces per day. But check with the doctor first. Remember that most babies who don’t poop a lot are not truly "constipated" and don’t need anything different from normal.
