Baby Green Poop During Cold

Consistently green stools in the breastfed baby can indicate: an imbalance of foremilk/hindmilk, often resulting in frothy green stools. a sensitivity to something in the mother’s diet, such as cow’s milk products. a sign that baby has an illness. Babies with an intestinal virus or even a simple cold will sometimes have green, mucusy stools.

A mother taking a lot of fenugreek for her milk supply may notice her baby has green poop. An older baby might eat certain green foods himself that lead to green poo.

That can be a completely normal variation, especially if they’re teething. But the presence of mucus can also signify that your baby’s fighting off an infection. Essentially, any earth-tone shade of poop, from brown to yellow to green, is probably just fine, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
